Product types
Different films are built for different work.
A product family name does not establish compatibility or performance by itself. Construction, shade, installation side, glass, exposure, and manufacturer requirements all matter.
Solar-control film
Designed to change how solar energy and visible light interact with the glazing. Product families may be reflective, dual-reflective, neutral, ceramic, metallized, spectrally selective, or low-emissivity. The shade and construction affect heat, glare, reflectivity, appearance, and film-to-glass options.
Safety and security film
Thicker film intended to help retain broken glass. The tested glazing assembly—including the glass, film, attachment system, frame, and installation method—determines performance. Film applied to ordinary glass should not be described as bullet-resistant.
Decorative and privacy film
Used to diffuse views, add patterns or color, change light transmission, or create partial or complete visual separation. “Privacy” can mean frosted, opaque, patterned, or daylight-dependent reflective privacy; those outcomes are not interchangeable.
Exterior film
Built specifically for exterior application when the room-side surface is inaccessible or when the manufacturer specifies an exterior construction. Exposure, edge sealing, cleaning, warranty term, and replacement cycle can differ from interior film.
Surface-protection film
Includes anti-graffiti and sacrificial surface films intended to protect glass or other approved smooth surfaces from scratching, etching, paint, or wear. Substrate approval and removal procedures are product-specific.
Specialty film
May address bird visibility, blister-free application to approved plastics, blackout, whiteout, museum or UV-control needs, or other narrow applications. These products require the exact technical sheet and approved-substrate guidance.
