A specification sheet is a comparison source, not a compatibility approval. Start by identifying the exact product, reference glass, test method, and installation configuration behind the values.
Identify the document
- Confirm the manufacturer, exact product code, region, publication date, and revision.
- Do not apply one product-family value to a different shade, thickness, or installation side.
Find the reference glazing
- Performance may be reported for film tested on clear single-pane glass or another stated reference construction.
- Values for the film alone, film on reference glass, and a complete glazing system are not interchangeable.
Read visible-light values together
- Visible light transmission describes the portion of visible light passing through the tested construction.
- Interior and exterior visible reflectance describe different viewing sides and affect appearance differently during the day and at night.
Read solar values in context
- Solar transmittance, reflectance, and absorptance describe where incident solar energy goes in the tested construction.
- Total solar energy rejected and solar heat gain coefficient are system-level comparison values; read the test configuration and footnotes.
Check non-performance requirements
- Review compatible glass, installation side, edge sealing, pane-size limits, shading, warranty registration, and preapproval requirements.
- Keep the dated specification and compatibility source with the job record.
